Using Payoneer in Pakistan

Did you FINALLY just receive your Payoneer MasterCard in the mail? Once you are done with the initial excitement of owning a MasterCard debit card, run through the following guide to make sure you know exactly how to use the Payoneer card in Pakistan.



Step 1:  
Open the envelope 
  •  Rip open the envelope you have received from Payoneer 
  • Unpack the card
  •  Switch on your personal computer

Step 2:
Activate your card
  •  Go to www.payoneer.com 
  • Click on Activate your card in the panel on the right
  • Enter your account details to login to your Payoneer online account (these are the same details you chose when you ordered the card). The username is your email address.  
  • Once you login, you will see a button you can click to activate your card. Click it!
  • Enter the 16 digit card number located on your card, and choose a 4 digit pin number.
  • Celebrate the activation of your card! 

Step 3:
Use your card
  • Your Payoneer card can be used in thousands of locations across Pakistan
  • You can withdraw money from selected ATM machines all over Pakistan. Your card will only work at ATM machines that support MasterCard. In Pakistan, these include MUSLIM COMMERCIAL BANK, CITIBANK and FAYSAL BANK. 
  • You can see a list of ATMs near you that support MasterCard by visiting the link below.
  • Make sure you look out for the MasterCard logo on the machine before you insert your card
  • Remember that Payoneer's daily spending limit varies depending on which vendor you got your card through. Odesk cards have a daily ATM withdrawal limit of $2,500 but this does NOT mean you can withdraw this amount. Local ATM machines have varying daily withdrawal limits. Consult the bank associated with any ATM machine you are withdrawing from before making large transactions.
  • Remember that all transactions in Pakistani ATM machines are done in Pakistani Rupees.
  • Remember not to check your balance from the machine, but to check it online. Most machines in Pakistan do not support checking of balance of MasterCard cards, and your card could get eaten up. 
  • You can also use your Payoneer MasterCard debit card at any shop, petrol pump or restaurant that accepts MasterCard payments. All big stores etc accept this method of payment.


A summary of Payoneer fees: 
  • $24.99 - one time card activation fee.(some Payoneer partners are charging the regular fee of $9.99 for Pakistani clients now)
  • slow load fee (different for every partner. Many partners have subsidized this fee completely)
  • instant load fee (different for every partner)
  • $2.15 - ATM machine withdrawal fee per transaction
  • $ 1-3 - Payoneer monthly fee (depending on number of transactions made in the previous month)
  • 3%* - Currency Exchange fee 
DISCLAIMER: Withdrawing more money than you have on your account can result in your card being eaten by the machine. Make sure you calculate a modest exchange rate, taking into account all fees etc. Failed transactions due to insufficient balance are also charged a small fee.

* The currency exchange fee is quite uncertain. Many people believe it is 3% of the dollar exchange rate per dollar.i.e. if the rate is Rs. 100/$, for every dollar you withdraw, you will get 97 rupees. However, these days most ATM machines tend to give between $92-93. You get better rates by swiping your Payoneer card.

    I would just like to take this opportunity to mention that I have been using my Payoneer card for almost a year now and I have not had even the slightest bit of problem with it. There are no hidden fees, and it is quick and reliable. To top things off, their customer service department is friendly and helpful.

    it answers the most frequently asked questions on the forums..
    We also can use this card for on-line payments as i use for payments of my hosting services, buying stuff etc...Payoneer is great for me!!

      Hi Sir,

      Can you please give some more details about why your card is not working on MCB and Faysal Bank ATMs? What exactly happens when you insert the card in?

      Are you sure your funds have been loaded and your card has been activated? If so, make sure you are using the card properly. From any MCB ATM Machine, when you enter the card in, and enter your 4 digit pin code, you will have to select CURRENT ACCOUNT and then the amount that you want to withdraw. Make sure you are not withdrawing more than Rs. 20,000 at a MCB ATM per transaction since I think that is the limit at most of their machines.

      If you still have problems, feel free to write back or to contact Payoneer if you think there is something wrong with your card and not the machines :)

    Hi, thanks for your comment and sorry about the late reply.

    You can't associate your Payoneer card with Paypal at the moment unfortunately. It is not a sufficient verification technique, but I believe Payoneer is working on it.

    Also, you must first receive a payment from a Payoneer Partner before you can load the card yourself. The card must also be active and valid.

      Sorry , I accidentally overlooked your comment. You can only get a Payoneer card through one of its partners. Websites such as www.vworker.com, www.odesk.com , www.elance.com etc allow you to issue a Payoneer card through them.

      Payoneer will mail it to you in Pakistan then, and once you receive a payment through a vendor, it will be activated.

      Sorry, you can't connect your Payoneer card to Payza at this point as far as I know

      But in general, you can link your oDesk Payoneer card to any other website that has Payoneer as a payment method (you can use one card for Odesk, vworker and most other sites)

      Note that Elance requires you to issue their payoneer card through them, not through any other partner.

    Is this possible to withdraw US dollar from Citibank ATM machine.Because A US dollar account holder of citibank can withdraw his amount from any citibank atm machine.Is this possible for Payoneer Mastercard, too?

      You can withdraw your money in PKR from any Citibank ATM machine, but you can't withdraw it in USD in Pakistan as far as I know.

      Hey Zeeshan, once you register for a Payoneer card through SFI, you will have to put your mailing address where the card will be mailed to you in a letter. You will receive an envelope after several weeks. Once you have received it, you must activate it using instructions in the envelope.

    Hi Bro! I have payoneer master debit card. I have activated it successfully. I have made a small testing transaction from odesk and received the total amount and as they mentioned to load money I did so. Now I just wanted to ask that, is it the complete procedure before with drawling from ATM or something needs to be done with the most doubtful feature of payoneer, to load money from the payoneer website? Also tell me what that feature does and the purpose of loading money from that method?
    Because I didn't get mess with that feature while I was loading the amount from odesk. I just got message click on it it prompts for loading I choose the slowest method and it is now showing the status loaded. And I never asked for activation fee of 24.99USD till now.
    Please tell me something about these confusions.

      Hey bro,

      Yeah, a lot of people are saying the initial activation fee has been revoked. I'm not sure about this since I ordered my card a long time ago, and I had to pay $24.99.

      You are ready to withdraw the money from your account once your card has been loaded. If your card balance is not 0, that means your card has been loaded and the funds can be withdrawn.

      The only money that will be withdrawn from your card balance after loading has been completed is the $2.15 ATM fee. Subtract that, and then multiply by approximately 87 or 88 to get how much PKR you will get from your card.

      You will have to round it to the nearest 500 since you can only withdraw PKR from ATMs in Pakistan in multiples of 500. Any leftover change can be used at any place where MasterCard is accepted (most places)

      Don't worry about any fees except the ATM processing fees now. The monthly fee, and any activation charges would already have been deducted from your total amount, if there are still any such charges.

      Let me know if there are still any confusions :)

    is that you can with draw money to your card from paypapl account
    and then u can cash out by atm in pakistan
    this is the only purpose i use payoneer card and

      Hi Mateen,

      You can order a Payoneer card through any vendor including ODesk, even if you don't have any money on Odesk. You can activate it by receiving funds through any other vendor.

      Remember that you cannot load your card privately until you have received money from ANY payoneer vendor at least twice... so unless you have money coming from any of Payoneer's partners, the card will be useless for you.

      It can take a month for the card to be shipped to Pakistan, unless you are willing to pay the courier fees, in which case you can have your card within a few days.

      Mateen, I'd strongly recommend you register on the following two websites and bid for projects on both of them on a regular basis. Order a Payoneer card through either of the websites, since you can link a card issued by any vendor to most other vendors.

      Basically, I have been studying/researching Internet Marketing (PPV, CPA, Paid traffic, Organic Traffic, Blogging, SEO, Monetization Strategies etc etc.) for quite a long time. But I just recently started out practical with the help of my father(father bank account etc.) because I am of just 17 now so I dont have even a bank account. Well, I want to play around one PPV(pay per view) traffic company (leadimpact) but they are not accepting my father's visa debit card issued by Standard Chartered Bank. Payoneer works there. That's why I need it. :-)

      Oh acha! I guess Payoneer is your best bet then, yeah. You can load it with your Standard Chartered visa debit card, but as I mentioned earlier, you will need to receive two payments from any vendor before you can load your card privately! Good luck earning something on Vworker or Odesk :)

    Hi,
    First time is used my payoneer card in MCB ATM lahore and withdraw 20thousand PKR. It went fine.

    And then in MAY 2012, i used it in Standard Chartered Bank ATM in Faisalabad and withdraw 25thousand PKR successfully.

    After that i could never use it in Standard Chartered Bank again, it gives error that my card is not a VALID CARD, However it works fine in MCB ATM.

    Is there anyone who has experienced similar thing? or tried in SCB ATM or any other ATM?

      Hi Nauman,

      I don't know why you are having this issue. I have used SCB ATMs more than once without any problems. As long as the ATM machine has the MasterCard logo, it should work perfectly.

      Could you explain exactly what happens when you enter the card into the machine, with more details?

      I just found out that Payoneer has not been working at many ATMs all over Pakistan, including SCB.

      You should try using a Citibank ATM if this is accessible to you.

      Otherwise, I suggest waiting a few days before trying again. I know many people who cannot withdraw money from either MCB, SCB or Faysal Bank these days.

      Hey Waqar,

      You can load your Payoneer card through any Payoneer partner, such as the one you issued your card from.

      There is also the option of private load, which you can do with any Visa or MasterCard debit/credit card, by visiting this page: https://load.payoneer.com/

      Remember that you can only load your card privately after receiving two payments from a Payoneer partner.

    This article was very informative, it has almpost eliminated half of my confusions regarding payoneer withdrawals.
    However, I would like to know, whether I need to have an account in one of the banks you mentioned. I already have an account in NBP but I see this doesn't support payoneer.
    Plus, this payoneer system costs too much for some one who is not that 'big' online earner....:(

      Payoneer is definitely expensive specially since you get a bad exchange rate these days through PKR ATM machines. It is very reliable though.

      You do not need an account in any local bank. Just go to one of those banks and put your Payoneer card into their ATM and withdraw cash from current account!

      Sir, activation charges apne Payoneer partner se poochain. It depends on the partner.
      Aap apne bank account ke debit card se payoneer pe paisay load kar sakte hain.
      Pakistan me MCB, SCB, Citibank aur purane RBS ke ATM se paisay withdraw kar sakte hain.

      Hey! Well, $2.15 will be cut as ATM withdrawal fees. The current exchange rate is approx Rs. 99, so you will get around Rs. 93-95 from the ATM.

      197.85 * 94 = 18600.

      You should probably try withdrawing 18500 from the ATM.

      That's a tough one. I recently withdrew from MCB and I got a rate of 93, which I felt was very low. Try Standard Chartered Bank.

      Payoneer allows you to withdraw money from specific websites, including but not limited to Www.odesk.com , www.freelancer.com , www.elance.com
      On these websites, you can do jobs and earn money. Once you have earned the money, you can withdraw easily from an ATM machine using your Payoneer card.
      You can use Payoneer card to make online purchases.

      Hey bro, glad to hear you finally received your cards. If you had ordered the card from my site, private loads would be available immediately, but since you didn't, you will need to receive from 1-2 payments from the partner you ordered the card from before you can receive money through private load.       Hi, please follow the following steps to withdraw your money from Freelancer.com
      1. Convert your currency to USD if it is not already in USD. You can do so by visiting http://www.freelancer.com/dashboard/ and going to 'Convert funds'
      2. Once your funds are in USD, go to the following link: https://www.freelancer.com/payments/withdraw.php and select "Freelancer Debit Card". 3. Enter your amount (rounded to the nearest $) and click withdraw.
      4. Check your email account for a confirmation email.

      Remember that if you withdraw today, your withdrawal will be processed on Monday (US time).

      It depends on the machine, but generally, you need to select current account and withdraw the way you would with a normal local ATM card. All money amounts will be in Pakistani Rupees (PKR) and not in US Dollars (USD). Just make sure you don't try checking your balance through the machine, and try withdrawing everything in one transaction (since there is a per-transaction fee)

      Hi, sorry to hear that your account has been blocked. Unfortunately, the only way you can unblock it is by contacting Payoneer customer service through their website. They will verify that it is in fact your account by asking you some questions, and they will then unblock your account and send you a link to reset your password.

      You cannot verify a Freelancer.com account with a Payoneer card. Try using a local debit/credit card. Some banks (including UBL) work with Freelancer. Do you have a local card?

      Waqar, sorry I have been really busy and unable to reply. I'd be happy to answer your questions. You can withdraw your money from any ATM machines that allow MasterCard withdrawals. I am not sure what banks are available in Bahawalpur, but I am sure that you have MCB ATMs there. MCB and Standard Chartered have the most reliable MasterCard ATM machines. Standard Chartered, in my opinion, gives the best rates so try to use that. If these banks are not available in your area, I can help you locate other MasterCard ATM machines. Leave me a message if htis is an issue.

      As for the daily withdrawal limits, you can withdraw $2,500 on behalf of Payoneer. However, Pakistani ATM machines have limits per transaction. You will have to ask MCB/SCB what their ATM limits are. I asked MCB twice and once they told me Rs. 30,000 and the other time they told me Rs. 20,000 ( I cannot remember which is more recent). Standard Chartered has a limit of 50,000, as far as my knowledge goes, but again, you should ask the bank for a more accurate answer.

      Since you will be charged $2.15 per ATM withdrawal, it is best that you use a machine with the highest limit so that you will have to make the least number of transactions. There is no limit to the number of transactions you can make so long as you withdraw less than $2,500.

      I should have linked this to you in my last post. Here you can find MasterCard ATM machines in Pakistan. Just select country and type in Bahwalpur. I checked and you can in fact use two Faysal Bank ATMs in your city. You can get more details here.

      I started a business for which i needed a mastercard or a paypal account , i applied for a payoneer card online but since it had to take around 15 days , i searched on the internet and i got a guy who was selling ready payoneer cards , now when i got the card , it has zero credit , Hence my payoneer card and paypal account are bith in useless form , and on the other side i have so many orders to deal with , what do i do? please helpppppp

      You bought a Payoneer card from a third party (not Payoneer?) Is the card in your name? Is it verified?
      In order to receive payments on your card, you need to activate it through Payoneer.
      You also need to load money onto your card using a local debit or credit card and visiting load.payoneer.com. With $0.00 on your card, your vendor is going to deny transactions!

      If you are based in Pakistan, it will take a really long process to get a verified Paypal account.

      It normally takes 3-5 days for a card to get approved. I would recommend that if your card is not approved within 2 days, you should contact Payoneer support. They are quite helpful.

      Sameer, aap kisi bhi payoneer partner/affiliate se paisay kama sakte ho. Freelancer.com aur odesk.com dono Payoneer partners hain. Agar ap in sites pe kaam karna chahte ho toh in pe accounts bana ke projects par bid karo.

    if i have 12000 in my account and i put 11000 to withdraw do the fees (ATM fee+Currency exchange fee) will be charged from my 11000 or from overall 12000...i mean if 11000 is withdrawn by me then the fee will be deducted from remaining 1000?

      No, whatever amount you enter into the machine is the amount you will receive. You need to make sure you have additional money in your account for the fee.

      In your case, you will receive ,11000 and the fee will be deducted from the remaining 1000

      Based on the information on their website, I think Payoneer MasterCard will work on their site. Give it a shot! You can withdraw from local MasterCard ATMs or use it at any shop or petrol pump that accepts cards.

      Bihroz, you can either load money from a Payoneer Affiliate/Partner (for instance, Freelancer.com, oDesk.com, Fiverr.com, Elance.com etc etc etc) or you can load money using a local credit card or debit card by visiting load.payoneer.com

      Step 1: Click on the link and register for a card. This entails providing your name, address and generally some kind of proof of your identity. Follow all steps and complete registration.
      Step 2: Wait for approval
      Step 3: Wait for card to be shipped to you
      Step 4: Activate card using instructions that have been mailed to you with the card.
      Step 5: Load money onto your card through a Payoneer partner or through direct load
      Step 6: Use your Payoneer card!

    Hello Please guide me that how can i link payoneer card with freelancer. I am following the instructions on withdraw funds page but then i got the message that i am already registered with payoneer card and then i need to login to my payoneer account. But what is the process after this?

      It sounds like you previously used a different Payoneer account with your Freelancer.com account? If so, you will need to contact Payoneer support and delink the previous card so that you can attach the new one. Good luck!

      You can either load it through a Payoneer partner or visit load.payoneer.com and load it using a local debit card or credit card that supports online payment. Payoneer partners include odesk.com, freelancer.com, elance.com etc.
